Adding to Life's Comforts with Good Shoes

When it comes to shoes, style wins over comfort, even if they hurt.

Manolo Blahnik says that "uncomfortable shoes are stupid", but the king of shoes, Christian Louboutin says style is his focus, not comfort.

It’s undeniable that that stylish shoes add to sexiness or a power outfit, and consequential pain is taken for granted.

Is it possible to combine style and comfort? Or to minimize pain with uncomfortable shoes?

Like Christian Louboutin, not many shoemakers focus on comfort because they concentrate on style and aim to simplify the complex manufacturing process.

But then there are very few designers and shoe manufactures who also focus on comfort.

One manufacturer, Birkenstock from Germany, concentrates specifically on comfort-based shoe construction, but combining long lasting good looks, at the same time.

Three very good reasons to focus our attention to the shoes we buy and the shoes we wear.

  1. To get daily comfort with our shoes
  2. To achieve daily wellbeing and better work performance.
  3. To avoid serious health problems in the long run, which is a well documented issue.
Buying the right shoes becomes the logical step to take.

Not all shoe retailers focus on shoe comfort in their ranges, because of the wrong mental associations that comfortable shoes seem to imply, like boring shoes or orthopaedic shoes.

Style and comfort can be combined, and some manufacturers do just that, like Hoegl of Austria and Loake from the UK.

Retailers with shoe comfort in mind will stock ranges combining style and comfort.
